FIRE.
THE OAMARU INQUIRY.
[United Press Association.]
Oamaru, March 19. The inquiry into the Star and Garter Hotel fire was continued to-day, and the taking of evidence concluded. Mrs. Harvoy (the lessee) was examined at length as to her business and financial affairs, and a great quantity of other evidence was brought forward. S. B. Clark, re-examined by the Coroner as to Miss Telfer's statements that he made improper overtures, to her, characterised them as absolute and emphatic lies. The Coroner said that some of the evidence was so extraordinary that he would take time to review it, and reserved his decision.
