PREMIERS' CONFERENCE.
SUBJECTS FOR DISCUSSION
MR FISHER'S VIEWS
Melbourne, March 18
Mr Fisher states that he is considerably impressed with the value of an Australasian Conference such as has been recently discussed. Mr Maasey might give a lead in reciprocal arrangements in trade and other matters. It would certainly tend to the cultivation of a better acquaintance. Among subjects suitable for discussion was the question of reciprocity regarding the Workers' Compensation Act and entering into an agreement whereby the family of a wage-earner incapacitated when beyond his own State would benefit by the legislation in the country to which he belonged. Other questions were statistics, defence, cable rates, currency, reciprocity, and interchange of goods.
Air Fisher said he had not suggested the date of the first conference* but it might be worth considering whether it could not be worked with the Premiers' Conference in May.
