Mr Lloyd George, who presided at the Labour Conference, said it was essential to increase the output of munitions in order to save the lives of our soldiers. The Government asked the workmen to agree that there should be no strikes where Government work was concerned, and also to suspend all restrictions on output during the war, and to assist the Government in dealing with drinking by a minority of the workers.
