The Rome correspondent of '"The Times" says the situation is desperately complicated. Public opinion is divided, the blessings of peace bei-ig weighed against the laurels and. spoils of war. Germany has made a de*p impression on the Italian mind; she iias incessantly advertised German organisation, thoroughness, inventiveness, and persistence. This has given rise to an almost superstitious belief in and exaggerated respont for German prowess.
