half-mile, and finished third. Campaign won easily by twenty yards, with Goldseeker about six «> lengths away, third. Cape well was fourth and Whispering Willie fifth. The rest of the field were; well spread out. The race took 24 seconds longer to run than the two-mile event on the firsti day. There were only three starters in the Redwood Memorial (one mile and a quarter), and Want was installed favourite. After some delay at the poet a good start was effected, Mount Victoria going to the front. He maintained the lead for six furlongs, when he was easily displaced by Want, who won by three lengths; Moirette two lengths away, was third.

For the Stoke Hack Handicap, Hap Dha and Elopement were the withdrawals. A splendid start was effected. Whisperer and Ruination went to the front, with Achilleus and Ally next. Ruination then dropped back and ran last all the way. At the sea Glenongley moved up, and on entering the straight Whisperer was in the lead, with Ally, Achilleus, and Glenongley in a bunch. An exciting race ensued, Whisperer being under the whip to the post. Glenongley came with a great rush, and was only beaten by Ally for first place by a head. Achilleus, half a length away, was third. There were only three starters in the Grand Stand Handicap. Merton made the running to the sea bend, when he stumbled and very nearly came down. Royal Dragoon then assumed command, but entering the straight Merton came at the leader, and won a good race by half a length. Monologue was two lengths away, third.

Flora Dillon was the only scratching in the Handicap Trot, leaving a field of 12 starters. Winston M. took charge at the back, and entered the straight in front of Waterfall, with Welcome Jack and Lady H. coming close up. In a good finish Winston M. gained the verdict by a length. Lady H. was fourth.

There was a long delay at the post in the Welter Hack Handicap, Killaloo., who threw his boy, giving a lot of trouble. Want and Killaloo got vac best of a straggling start, bui the former, who carried a 101b penalty, soon dropped back. Killaloo got a big break on the field, and led all the way, winning easily by two lengths. Hap Dha, who was made a good favourite, got badly away. At the sea bend Totaramii and Glenongley came up, but, failed to reach the leader b- two lengths; a length between tue second and third. Killaloo was the only withdrawal from the Farewell Handicap, which left a field of eight runners. Portland Flame, who won the five furlongs race on the first day, was made favourite. When the barrier rose Royal Sleeves shot out, followed by Portland Flame and Curator. At the sea, the latter stumbled and dropped back. Before the bend was reached Portland Flame was done with, and Excitement and Mount Victoria came through. Royal Sleeves was still in front at the straight, but there was a good race for home. Royal Sleeves won by a length, but Excitement and Mount Victoria fought out a good finish for second place. Merton, who got badly away, finished fourth.
