VESSEL SET ON FIRE BY THE CREW.

(Received March 16, 8.5 p.m.) London, March 16. The Admiralty states that the crew set the Dresden on fire.

Juan Fernandez is a rocky Chilian island in the Pacific, 420 miles west of Valparaiso. t .- on _ The Dresden was launched in 1907. She was a protected cruiser oi 35SW tons displacement, and carried an armament of ten 4.1-inch guns. She escaped from the British squadron in the Falkland Islands engagement owing to the British delaying to rescue seamen of the sunken cruisers. The Dresden had since continued her career as a commerce destroyer, and a m©ssa^ from Santiago on Sunday reported that she had sunk the Conway Castle. The British cruiser Kent is a vessel of 9 800 tons, mounting fourteen 6-inch guns. The Glasgow, 4800 tons, carries two 6-inch and ten 4-mch guns. The Orama is a converted merchantman, being an Orient liner ot \lsU tons.
