PERSONAL.

Mr. P. A. Dickson, who is to succeed Mr. S. J. Mathieson as preacher at the Church of Christ, Waimea street, and Mrs. Dickson arrived by the steamer Pateena yesterday. Mr. Dickson, who comes from Adelaide, commences his ministry on Sunday next.. Mr. Mathieson has been compelled to rest on account of his health.

News has been received c£ the death at Petone on Sunday, of Mr John Stanton, aged 69 years. Deceased, served his apprenticeship in 'The Colonist office, and was a inombor <*F the staff for some years. On leaving Nelson, he worked on the "Marlborouy.h Press" at Picton. He left there, having obtained work in the Government Printing Office in Wellington, where he remained for years, until ho retired on a pension allowance. He was respected by all who knew him, being a straightforward and conscientious man. He was a widower, and leaves two sons and four daughters.

The Rev. George Bond, who has been •on a. short visit" to Nelson, left last •night for Auckland.

Mr. L. F. Cocks, of tho Press. Association's Wellington staff, is relieving Mr. E. E. Cohen at Cable Kay. Mr. Cohen has left on a month's holiday leave.

Miss E. Wise, who has been a member of the clerical staff of our evening contemporary for several years, leaves for Wellington this week. She received a handsome handbag, suitably scribed, as a parting gift from her fellow-workers, accompanied by references to her excellent qualities and expressions of good-will.
