R|WAKA

(From !'The Colonist," Noiv. 16.) A very pretty wedding took place in the Riwaka Presbyterian Church on (Wednesday.. The contracting parties were Mr. Lyel W. S. Drummond, second son of Mr. John Drummond, of Riwaka, and Miss Gladys Fry, youngest daughter of Mr. Harry Fry, of little Sydney, Umukuri. The church was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and a large number of people were present at the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. (Raymond Fry, was attired in a beautiful white satin dresa trimmed with lace and pearl trimmings, with the usual j wreath and veil. The bridesmaid, Miss !Alice Douglas, wore a cream dress and iace coat, and a Dolly Varden hat trimmed with apricot coloured roses, with black velvet streamer?. The two flower girls, Misses Molly Wilson and Joy Douglas (nieces of the bride), were dressed in white, and each carried a basket of flowers. The bride and bridesmaid carried beautiful bouquets. Mr. Leslie Goodall, of Lower Moutere, supported the bridegroom as best man. The ceremony was performed by Mr. (W. Wortley French, and Mrs. Harry Fry, junr., at the organ, played effectively the Wedding March. At the close of the ceremony the guests proceeded to the residence of the bride's parents, "Umukuri, where they were royally entertained. The toasts of the bride and bridegroom, the bridesmaid, the parents of bride and bridegroom, and absent friends were honoured. The bridegroom's present to the bridesmaid was a- beautiful brooch, a circlet of garnets and pearls, and to the flower girls he gave gold brooches with their names inscribed on them." A clear indication of the high esteem in which the young couple are held was the largo number of both valuable and useful presents that were received. They ■.have the good wishes of all for their; future happiness and prosperity.

Dr. Woodward has purchased the practice formerly carried on by Dr. R.. Noble Adams, at Takaka.
