FITCHETT, 5071 Public Trustee. TO THE RATEPAYERS, Wangapeka. Riding, Waimea County. J^ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— As I have consented to become a Candidate for the above Riding at the coming Election, I think it is only fair to my supporters and intending sup-"pm-ters that I should-express ~my •viewsand opinions on county matters through the medium of the public Press. First of all 1 may mention that I am : a native *f the district, and -reside in -the centre of the Riding, and Tiave aocess to and use the four principal .roads, viz., Tadmor, Tapawera, Wiakej&eld and1 Motueka. . For #he past .25, years I have worked on and off for the Council on all classes of road works, thereby acquiring a thorough knowledge of all descriptions of Council work and requirements. The following suggestions with regard to careful expenditure of ratepayers' money and needed reforms will have my hearty co-operation and support:— (1.) All work of the value of over £10 to be contracted for; and the maintenance of all roads to be let under contracts. 1 (2.) In view of th" increase of settlement. I would be in favour of the-Conn-s£l taking steps, to secure the legalisation of necessary '.-roads " in .cases- m which it has not already been done. (3.) Tho Overseer' to be replaced by a qualified Engineer, who would devote' himself mainly to work in the field, an arrangement that when the Engineer U on' such duty the office work shall be done by & draughtsman. ; I am, -i - Yours faithfully, ,' , . 5120 . N . E. H. BROMELL.
