Hokitika, Oct. 7. A highly respected South Westland settler, Frederick Chirm, aged 41, was drowned while crossing the. Pukekura river He had a load of timber on a dray. The dray over-turned in the stream, pinning Chirm beneath it-He was married, with a family of three children.
