v The sixty-first installation in connection with the Southern. Star Masonic Lo'd^o, No. 735 on the register of the Grand Lodge of England, took place last evening, when Bro. David Mackay, the Worshipful Master elect, was duly installed as Worshipful Master by Wor. Bro. llobt. Johnston, P.M., and Right Wor. Bro. Jesse Steer, District GrandMaster of-District Urand Lodge of Westland, English Constitution. The investiture of officers was conducted by various Past Masters of the Lodge, Wor. Bro. W. Cochrane, District Grand Director of Ceremonies of Westland, and Wor. Bro. E. Dimant, of Southern Star Lodge, acting as Directors of Ceremonies. .The officers of the Lodge for the year are: —1.P.M., Wor. Bro. W. J. S. Smith; S.W., Bro. W. Thompson; J.W., Bro. W. McConchie; Chaplain, Bro. E. B. Fleming,' P.M.; treasurer, Bro. S. F. Bolton, P.M.; secretary, Bro. J. McEachen, P.M.; organist, Bro. W. T. Brundell; S.D., Bro. G. M. Simpson; J.D., Bro. T. Engelbrecht; D. of C, Bro. E. Dimant, P.M. ; stewards, .senior, Bro. H. F. West, junior, Bro. W. Robertson; 1.G., Bro. S. F. Tyerman; Tyler, Bro. W. F. Pellew. An orchestra consisting of Bros N. R. Williams (organ), H. Mayo (violin), G. Price (cornet), and W. T. Brundell (clarionet) rendered valuable* assistance in connection with the ceremonies. The visit of Right Wor. Bro. Jesse Steer, District Grand Master of Westland, E.C., accompanied by some of his officers, was a noteworthy incident, and the sister lodges of the district were also officially represented. At the close of the v ceremonies a short adjournment for refreshment took place, but tho usual banquet was not held, and a sum equivalent to the cost thereof will be devoted, together with contributions from other lodges, to one of the patriotic funds, as may be later decided.'
