Wellington, Oct. 6. The Orchard and Garden Diseases Amendment Bill authorises the Minis■ter by "Gazette" notice to appoint any specified ports to be the only ports at which any fruit or any specified class of fruit may lawfully be exported either ..•generally or to any specified country or place. It also permits him to appoint fit buildings to be stores for inspection and grading purposes; to appoint stores for the pre-coohng or other treatment rof fruit prior to export; and to prescribe the manner in which and the conditions *subject to which stores for the inspection, grading or treatment of fruit-shall be used. The Bill further provides for the gazetting of regulations relating to the grading of truit and other trees intended for' sale from nurseries, and the prescribing of sale conditions: the prescribing of standard packages for fruit intended for sale at home or for export; the branding of packages and the registration of brands; tlio inspection, grading, pack-i ing. and stamping of fruit, and the modes of treatment of fruit prior to export and such other things its may lie necessary.
