Canterbury twos 6i{d, heavy-weights 6 3-Bd, other than Canterbury 6 5-8 d Tor light-weights. Beef: Tho market is not quite so firm. The cause of tho decline is the large supply of Irish, together with loner prices paid by the Government in anticipation of heavy arrivals from tho Argentine. New Zealand hinds 6 5-Bd, fores-5 o-Bd. There were no arrivals of chilled beef at the market this week. Butter: The market is firmer. There is an increasing demand for better grades. Danish, steady, 138s to 140s ■per cwt; Australian, moderate demand, 120s to 1245; Siberian/ fair demand t 118s to 1225; Irish creamery, fair demand 124s to 1265, and exceptionally 128s;' Argentine, 118s to 1225. Cheese-: ,Tho market is quiet, but steady. Canadian white: and-coloured 74s to 765, English 76s to 84s: Stocks of Canadian cheese at London, Liverpool, and Bristol on October Ist totalled 169,000 boxes, as against 298,000 at the same time last year. Stocks of New Zealand cheese on October Ist totalled 2250 crates, as against 300 last year. Hemp: The market is very quiet, and there is nothing doing. Quotations are nominal. New Zealand good fair £23 10s per ton, fair £21 10s, fair current Manila £26 10s. New Zealand is very seriously 'affected by Mexican sisal declining rapidly. The American quotation is 3 7-8 cents, equal to £17 - 10s per ton, c.i.f. New York The output from Manila for the week was 13-,----000 bales. Wheat: Tho market is quiet, with d tendency in favour of buyers. Australian 45s per quarter c.i.f. Oats: The market is dull, and there is*very little business doing. New Zealand Gartons 295,0 x store. Beans: Tho market is steady, but tho demand is only moderate. New Zealand beans f.a.q. (new crop) per 5041b 345. Wool: Tho market, is firm. Prices continue to advance for all grades of medium and coarse crossbieda.
