PRICE OF FOODSTUFFS
NORWEGIAN STEAMER SUNK
London, Oct. 4
The Secretary of the Central Agricultural Bureau states .that it is an open secret that if wheat seriously rises^ the Government will commandeer that and other foodstuffs and fix the prices.
Sixteen survivors of the Norwegian steamer Thromoe'have arrived. The steamer was wrecked by a mine. Several were drowned.
Mr. Anthony Wilding, the New Zealand tennis* player, has been appointed a second lieutenant in the Royal Marines.
