DR. BARNARDO'S HOMES.

At the annual meeting of the National Incorporated Association of Dr. Barnado's Homes it was reported that to the 31st December last 78,971 children had filtered the homes. Fifteen thousand four hundred and sixty-eight children were dealt with during the year. The new admissions in 1913 to the permanent benefits of the Homes numbered 1,060, two-thirds coming from the Metropolis. Seven thousand six 'hundred and ninety-eight boys and girls were under the care of the association at the close of the year. Included in this number were 300 boys in training for the navy and mercantile marine at their Naval Training School in Norfolk, attached to which is a training ship stationed at Yarmouth", with a shore ba&o in the same town. On an average 70 boys are drafted each year into the Royal Navy and merchant service from this branch of the work. The school is officially recognised by the Admiralty and the Board of Education, and receives grants from both departments. At the close of the year 4,233 of the children were boarded out in rural districts in England and Canada; 928 boys and girls were under industrial training, and the other members of this large family, which averaged throughout the year 8,040 children, were distributed in various homes all over the country.
