THE SMALLEST CHURCH.

Tliere are several churclies which dispute tho honour of being the smallest in the United Kingdom, but the distinction really rests with Lullington, which measures in area 2-56 square feet, while Culbone ranks third with 300 square feet. Lullington, however, is only the chancel of a,n early English church, the rest of it having been removed by time and neglect, if not by' Puritanical ■ destruction. The interior is only about 16ft square. Some years ago a stray visitor attended morning service there, when the congregation numbered 12 persons; the parson, a. very diminutive man, preached for four minutes from a text of two words ; and the offertory realised eighteenpence. The visitor remarked that this was the smallest church, the smallest parson, the shortest text, ,the shortest sermon, the smallest congregation, and the smallest collection he had ever heard of.
