(Received June 2, 1.25 a.m.)
Sydney, June 1
Since the forgery of bank notes was reported at Auckland, the police have kept a sharp lookout on all vessels from the Dominion, but they failed to spot any suspects arriving.
The movements of a foreigner, however, aroused suspicion, and he was closely watched. To-night a strong force of detectives paid a surprise visit to a lodging-house at Redfern, and arrested the foreigner while he was at dinner.
A search of his -room disclosed a complete plant for printing bank notes, including a press, printers' ink, valuaable lenses, prepared plates for etching, and a one pound. National Bank note, while under the pillow a fullyloaded automatic pistol was found.
