WELCOME AT WESTPORT.

A SUCCESSFUL MEETING. ! [United Press Association.] Westport, March 17. The Hon. W. F. M&ssey, Prime Mm Istefi arrived from Nelson this evening, opeihing the Murchison show ea route. •. He was welcomed by a largo gathering of citizens, who made him the attest at a complimentary dinner. At the conclusion some speeches wem made, and the deputy-Mayor (who presided), presented Miss Massey, whose birthday it happened to be, with a very handsome gold bangle. Later Mr. Massey delivered an address at the Irish national concert, and then gave a political address in another theatre before a very large gathering. r The Prime Minister was subjected t-a a 'good deal of heckling from the extreme Socialist section, but the meeting passed off on the whole vei'y t good humouredly, concluding with a vote of thanks and confidence, which was opposed by the "Red1 Fed." section of the audience. A prominent Liberal attempted to speaks but the meeting de* clinect to give him a hearing.
