NELSON BOYS' COLLEGE.
"OLD BOYS' DAY."
(From "Th© Colonist," March 9.) "Old Boys' Day" at the Nelson College on Saturday proved a' great success. The weather was beautifully, fine, arid there was a large gathering of past arid present pupils of both Colleges, arid parents and friends. "Old Boys" and the present boys met in friendly rivalry in a number of athletic contests, and in swimming, running, cricket and fives the old boys triumphed, while the present 'boys scored in the tennis matches and in the aggregate in the shooting competition. During the afternoon the formal opening of the new fives court, made possible by liberal donations from old boys, took place, and speeches were delivered bj Sir Robert Stout (Chief Justice), Mr. C. Y. Fell (on behalf of the College governors), Mr. H. L. Fowler (Principal of the Boys' College), and Mr. W. Devenish (President of the Old Boys' Association). Owing to the strong breeze prevailing, the remarks of the speakers, except to: those in the > immediate vicinity, were quite inaudible. Afternoon tea was provided, and niuch appreciated by the visitors. Details of the various competitiqns are as follows:
