MR. R. SEMPLE.
LABOUR AND THE GOVERNMENT
Sydney, March 14.
Mr. R. Semple, of the New Zealand Federatioi of Labour, is returning by the Maunganui. He says that the industrial""organisations of the Dominion received a severe blow by the recent strike, but they were not defeated. He expressed the opinion that as the result of the next elections in ■about a year's time the Massey Government would suffer defeat. He criticised ihe^ Government's treatment of the workers as bein.j;. .vorpe than the methods of General Botha in South Africa.
