FOUND IN THE BUSH
STATEMENT BY DR. MAWSON
Newcastle, March 14
Dr. Mawson states that Mr Jeffreys, the expedition's wireless operator, *. ho was found in the bush in a demented state, was one of the party vroch v as left ashore at Commonwealth Bay to work the wireless. His health faf'ed, and his mental condition'showed weak-
ness and he began to despatch extraordinary messages. He was relieved of liia wireless duties.
Dr. Maclean spared no . pains to afford relief, and Jeffreys appeared to recover. When he landed at Adelaide he eeemed quite normal. He was paid off, and intended returning to his home at Toowoomba.
