"Weel," .s'id he, "yell gang straight alang here till yo come- to the first on yer richt. an' yell see a minister—l mean ?. !;ig.upost," bo corrected hastily, "and yell got the road frae it." . Thanking him for his information, 1 next inquired why he called the-finger-post, a ministen Shuffling his. feet and gazing longingly .at the copper I held out to •him. lye" stammered out, "Folks ca' it a minister, 'cos it pints the richt road but disria gang it itsol'." and he rushefl off to join his companions, whileI retired thinking deeply on the spread lof disrespect to the cloth.
