COMIC OPERA SEASON.

Everyone is talking about the forthcoming season of comic opera- to be inaugurated at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday evening next by Mr O'Connor's "Merry Widow" Opera Company. Having his choice of the J. C. Williameon operas, it is needless to say Mr O'Connor takes his pick of tho best for his annual tour of Australia and New Zealand. Thus it is Nelsonians are afforded an opportunity to see so many big successes all at once. "The Arcadians" will be the opening production on Wednesday night; •'The Quaker Girl" will be staged on Thursday • and "The Cingalee" on Friday. All three operas will bo interpreted in their entirety, and on the same- complete and elaborate scale'as characterised their production in the metropolis. The company carries an efficient orchestra. Besides Mr. D. B. O'Connor himself and Miss Vickey Miller, the principals include Mr John Ralston, Mr Harold Charters, Mr Bertie Nicholson, MiBruce Clark Mr Reginald Harris, and Misses Cliff Palmer, Bertha Hunter, Muriel Cathcart, Ella Miller, Jda Leggatt, and Alice Newton. The box plans are now open at Jackson and Co.'s, where seats may be booked without extra charge. Miss Vickey Miller, who takes the leading roles in the various operas, has made herself a great favourite in New Zealand by her clever acting, tuneful voice, and sweet stage presence.

A special late train will run to Richmond and Wakefield after the performance next Friday evening.
