COASTAL MASTERS' DISPUTE.

Wellington, Feb. 11

The coastal master's dispute with tho shipping companies came before tho Conciliation Commissioner (Mr P. Hally). There appeared for the employers Messrs C. McArthur, W. Fuller, and Beck, with Mr N. Mcßobie as agent. The representatives of the Merchant Service Guild were Messrs J. "W. Crotty and D. Turksma, and Captain D. J. Watson as agent. Mr Mcßobie applied for an adjournment. He saicl that the assessors present that day were only temporary, as tho employers most concerned were out- of town. Tho employers had been most surprised that the demands had been put in. at such a time when the employers had been in the thick of the turmoil. Even now they had hardly a chance to look after their own business. _ . The dispute was adjourned indefinitely. It will probably-be called again early in March. The sauio course will probably be followed in the officersdispute', which is fixed to come before Mr. Hally this morning.
