Wellington, Nov. 26. ' Tlie Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The: Hon. H. D. 801 l moved: "That tho amendment made in tho other House to the Legislature Amendment Bill be taken into ' consideration • tomorrow.'1 . ■. >'~..■■ • The Hon. W. C. F. Carncross moved ail amendment that to-morrow tho Council, resolve 'itself into a- committee of the whelo to consider the amendments. When the Bill left -thej Council it was harmless and necessary, j but it was coming back a very different measure, now loaded with «. great constitutional principle. The Government Railways Bill and the Mutual Fire Insurance Amendment Bill v-ere read tho third time. The Council went into committee on the Post and Telegraph Amendment Bill. Progress was reported. The Municipal Corporation Amendment Bill was considered in committee, md the clauses struck out which provided that in_the event of the office of mayor becoming vacant within a year of the election his successor shall be elected by the electors of the district; but if the office becomes vacant with.in.a year of the forthcoming bi-annual election-the council shall elect another mayor. A ne,v clause was added providing for an annual election by the people. Progress was reported. The Board, of Agriculture Bill was taken.through committee, and read tho third time.

Tlie Hon. J. Rigg gave notice that! he would move: "That the Council disagree with the amendments made by the other Chamber in the Legislature Amendment Bill." The Council rose at 5.20.
