CHILDREN'S SPECIAL SERVICE MISSION.

GATHERING ON TAHUNA SANDS. Mr. Edmund Ckrk, < representative of tho Children's Special Sorvico Mission, conducted a children's gathering lat Tahuna yesterday. Tho organisation was founded by Josiah Spiers in Llandtidno in 1868. \ The founder saw ckildren aimlessly digging in tho sand and suggested they make a text. The ■ children then invited him to meet them again on tho following morning, which- ho did, and they made what was called a "cathedral." From that small beginning it .has grown to a worldwide organisation. There aro 65-sea- , side resorts in the British Isles where r holiday services have been conducted, t and iii addition to this 14 caravans are ; journeying through tho English villages. Mr. Clark is at present touring Australasia to encourage a systematic Bible reading by means of the ■ Scripture Union, which is already t known in Nelson, Mrs. Mules having I acted as secretary to this branch for over 30 years. This Scripture Union ' has ■- a membership of 750,006, eight i hundred of this number being in Nelson district, and during Mr. Clark's visit the number has boon increased by nearly 300.
