METHODIST MISSION.

REV. VALLANCE AND MRS. COOK

On Saturday night a meeting was held in St. John's Methodist schoolroom to welcome the Rev. Vallance and Mrs. Cook, who have arrived in Nelson from Blenheim in the course of a mission tour of the Dominion. • The chair was taken by the. Rev. W. Baumber, who, on behalf of the church, gave a hearty welcome to the missioners. Mr. A. A. Lucas and Mr. H. P. Mourant also ©poke words of welcome on behalf of the officials and of the congregation. Mr. and Mrs. Oook both spoke .in (acknowledgment of the welcome, thanked those present for the heartiness of the reception, and asked for their co-operation in the coming mission.

Yesterday the services in St. John s Church were conducted by the Revj Mr Cook, who spoke on the subject of Christian perfection at the morning service, and in the evening preached to a crowded congregation, taking for his subject, "Christ, the King ot Kings." Mrs. Cook also took part in the evening service. In the aitemoon a special young people'a service was conducted by Mr. Cook. : The mission will continue throughout the week, and a. special service will be held every evening except Saturday. Bible readings will be held on Tuesday and Friday afternoon at 3 ©'clock, and on Wednesday afternoon Mr. Cook will <nvo a. special lecture to women, speak?ng on the subject, "Woman—Wife and Mother." ■ " ~ The mission will conclude next Monday evening, when Mr. Cook will give the story of his .Me.
