Grain, animals, ornaments, slaves, iron,' and copper have been used as money 'by many nations; the use of cattle as currency has been extremely common.
The cost of tho British lighthouse system during the year ended March 31st last, according to the accounts of the General Lighthouse Fund, was £535,239.
