FIGURES FOR LAST YEAR.

Wellington, May 29. Groas payments for old ago pensions .for 1912-13 wero £415,760 as against £406,250 in tho previous year., Tho not payments after the deduction of refunds and with credits from tho endowment fund, totalled £397,069. Tho number of claims lodged last year was 2440 against 3975 in tho previous yoar. Tho number granted was 20(>6 against 2318. IVnsionors who died numbered 1557, and cancellations 635.

The decrease- in thp old age pensions this year is due to the fact that 385 old ago pensions have boon cancelled by being converted into military pensions.

Tho grots payments under tho heading of widows' pension^ totalled £22,11-1. Tho number of claims lodged was 6(30.

Of 791. military pensions lodged, 585 wore granted, and the* prospective liabilities for tho current year exceed £20,000.
