Owing to the rise in wages through the Wages Board awards^ and the increase in the cost of supplies, the New South Wales railways are expected to show a deficit for the ynar ending June 30th. This will be the.first occasion of a loss for a number of years. An increase of fares and freights is foreshadowed.
