PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS SPECIFICATIONS.

The new Parliament Buildings are to bo constructed of New Zealand stone. Four varieties are to bo mentioned as alternatives in the specifications, these being Coromandel granite, Tonga Ray"* granite, a grey marble from Sandy Bay (in the Nelson province), and Mount Somers -'stono. AJ3» the tenderers must specify the prices at 'which they will utilise each kind of stone, the Government will bo ablo to make a choice when tho figures are known, but it has boon definitely ••decided already that tho very durable Coromandel granite will he used in the basement storey, which rises 14 feet from the ground.

I understand that no alteration of importance has boon mado in the design already described in print. The contractors are to complete tho work within two years.
