Auckland, May 27. . The Iloman Catholic Orphanage at Takapuna was destroyed by lire tarty this morning. Tho inmates escaped uninjured. , The firo resulted in tho total loss or the building and furniture. The loss is about £5000, and tlio insurances £2000 in the South British Office. The fire apparently arose in the vicinity of the ga s meter.
