CAPTURE OF AN ARMED BURGLAR.
A DESPERATE STRUGGLE,
COURAGEOUS POLICE OFFICERS
EXCITING INCIDENT AT RAILWAY
STATION.
Brisbane, May 27. The proprietor of an hotel reported that his safe had been broken open and' £60 stolen. Detective Head and Constable Scanlon met the Brisbane train at Toowoomba, and tackled a suspect who fifed from the platform, keeping the officers covered with a revolver. Constable Scanlon dashed in, struck the man with an umbrella, and then fell1.
Detective Head1 continued the pursuit, and after a desperate struggle secured the man, who carried a fully loaded revolver. The Lieutenant-Go-vernor, Sir Arthur Morgan, and hundreds of passengers watched the chase and cheered the office^. Sir Arthur Morgan lilted his hat to them, adding, "Good men." The arrested man also congratulated the offi-
cers on their bravery, saying that they had faced what ho would not. The missing money was found in his possession.
