Captain Amundsen, in an-interview,* said that ho would gladly forego the distinction of first reaching tho Pele if thereby he could have sarod brave men such as Captain Scott and his comrades from their terrible fate. Captain Amundsen, who is now at Madison, in Wisconsin, is preparing forhis North Pole expedition. He''hopes to drift in the ice for nW years in order to locate tho: Pole. The Frara will be used for the ex-; pedition. .
