iCaptain-Robdrtf'Falcon"Scott, R.N., C.V.0., F.R.G.S:, was born.'at Chitlands Devonport, .England,.- in 1868, and wjts educated at;S^iißbington House, FareTbam. He entered rtlie ! Navy in 1882, serving from 1887.t0'1888 in the Rover as lieutenant, and in the , Amphion in 1889. In 1898 and 1899 he was torpedolieutenant of the Majestic, flagship of the Channel Squadron, eubsequ* ntly hecoming first lieutenant of the same ship. He was promoted to the rank of commander in 1900, and of captain in 1904. Captain Scott was commander of the National Antarctic Expedition which left England in 1900 remaining in the south until 1904, and he organised the expedition which has achieved tho highest distinction left tcT British explorers in the Antarctic regions, but at the cost of the lives and himeelf and his gallant companions. Captain Scott leaves one son.
