Dr. Atikinso-n collected tho reUords and effects, including 35 pounds weight of valuable geological specimens. Ho road the burial service, and the party erected a, cairn and cross over the inner tent, in which the bodies wore

buried. They 'searched twenty miles southward for Ctiptain Oates, but did not find him. They erected a cairn in the vicinity.

The search party then turned northward to the relief of Lieutenant Ca npbell's northern, party, and found the latter safe.

When he reached Hut Point, Lieutenant Campbell was forced to,make back to Cape Evans. They burrowed in the sonwdrift : and constructed ;ari 'glJo, where they wintered. They killed and stored, seals'^and lived for six months on seal meat"and,•blubber, a few biscuits, and a small quantity of cocoa. They experienced constant gales.
