At Houston, Missouri, after he haCl. confessed to the murder of.a whit© wo> man, the crowd lynched a negro. An armed mob kopt the sheriff's I>osse powerless, and chained tho negro to a pump and burned him to cinders. The mob hanged another-negro who was suspected of being implicated in the crime, and later it was du>covoretl that lie was not guilty.
