On Saturday afternoon /the Director of Orchards gave a practical demonstration of spraying.in the presence of a number of interested oichaixlists. The feature of the display was the ex'trome simplicity of the apparatus.used, which demonstrated that in these days cf progress it is not necessary to go to gi-,eat expense in the control of insect pests in the orchards. . , Mr. Edward Ivory, junr., a wellknown orchardist and nurseryman of ■Rangiora, Canterbury, is also a visitor to the district.
