The lrnting up of "Kaikohe (North Auckland) with the extension, which hae been pushed on from the Kawaka-wa-Whangarei railway, is being delayed owing to a shortage of rails. The formation work is completed,for nearly two miles beyond the present railhead, and, but for th© scarcity, of rails, the lino could be opened to that point; The member for the district, Mr. Vernon Reed, who is visiting" Wellington on public business, has suggested to the Public Work« Department the transfer of rails to Kaikoho from other construction works mot so advanced.
