B. Fisher, ]V*iniste.r of Marine, arrived in the city late on Saturday night by motor car from the West Coast, being delayed en route by one or two mishap© to the car. A Christchurch telegram states., that Constable Doyle; who died as the result of injuries received at Shannon, was buried yesterday afternoon at Southbridge, where his relatives reside. Several members of the local force attended the funeral.

Advice has been received that Sir Rider Haggard, who is a member of the Imperial Trade Royal Commission,' was Wijpjn;the F. : and 0. -steamer Medina at Colombo on Saturday for Melbourne, which city he will leave for the Bluff on February 29th. After touring,the Dominion with the Commission, he will leave* Auckland for Sydney by the Maheno on March 24th. ' '
