Mr. Jacob Garrard, an ex-member of th© New South Wales Assembly, and a brother of the late Mr. Joseph Garrard, of this city, is paying a visti to N«'lson.» He used to reside in.Nelson some forty years ago, before he went to Australia.

Councillor T. Lisl© Adams, who owing to illness, has been unablp to attend meetings of the City Council for some months, was in his place last night, and was warmly welcomed back by his colleagues.

Adjutant and Mrs. Middlemiss,. whe have been in charge of the local corps of the Salvation Army for the* pa._t 12 months, will b© entertained at a farewell' gathering on Monday, in the barracks, when the Adjutant will deliver an .address on the story.of his life. They \«jir leave for their new station at Greymouth on Wednesday. The vacant positions will be filled by Adjutant Alice McKay, and Captain Barnett Sherlock, who will bo met at a welcome social on Friday night. There have been no lady officers stationed in Nelson for many years, and the coming of the now adjutant and captairi ie lolled forward to with great expectation by Nelson Salvationists, as theso officer* have successfully" commanded leading corps in the Dominion.
