ESCAPE OF A PRISONER.

Constantinople, Jan 1

Captain Djampoulet, who was arrested in connection with the November conspiracy, has escaped. Ho was allowed (to -visit a dentist in charge of an officer, and both disappeared.

Inquiry shows that £2000 (Turkish) was paid to the officer in charge of tho prisoner. It is believed that tho Committee of Union and Progress provided the money.

It - was reported in November that two hundred .arrests liad been made in connection with a plot to create a republic under Shovket Torgut Pasha. The arrests included those of Talaat Bey, Cat>taln Pjamboutect, and several Young Tudk ex-deputies. Onb of the latter mortally wounded a policeman, and was 'thereupon eourtmartialled and sentenced !to death. Several wei-o sentenced to &va years' mprisonment. Djavid Bey escaped in a Russian •vessel. ,
