SUGGESTION BY THE CITY

COUNCIL

IMPROVEMENT OF TRAFALGAR

PARK

At the meeting of tlio City Council last night, the General Committee reported as follows on the subject of the Pitt Memorial .Committee's application for permission to erect a band rotunda as a memorial on Milton's Acre: "The Committee considers the sito unsuitable and in view of tho possibility of a tramway being constructed in the near future the rotunda -would probably bo in the way."

On a letter from the Rugby Union re Trafalgar Park, the Committee's recommendation Avas- as follows:—"That the Council is unable tv re-build the pavilion, but that it be a- recommendation to the Pitt Memorial Committee to consider the- re-construction of thepaA rilion and improvement of the ground as a fitting memorial to the late Colonel Pitt, in Avhich event the name of the Park be altered to Pitt Park."

Cr. Hampson supported the proposal relating to Trafalgar Park, and movtxi. to add that in the event of the committee complying Avith the suggestion the Council co-operate in making tho Park a fitting memorial of tho late. Colonel Pitt.

Cr. Snodgrass seconded the motion, which Avas carried.
