In the test roll-call Mr Wilson polled US votes and Mr Champ Clark 437.

A sensation was caused by Tammany ELall casting 90 New York votes in Mr Wilson's favour.

Mr 0. L. James, a friend of Mr Bryan's, was elected chairman of the Convention.

Mr Bryan moved a resolution opposing the nomination of any candidate representing or under obligations to Pierpont Morgan, Thomas Ryan, August Belmont, or other members of "the privilege hunting or favour seeking Classes."

Messrs Belmont and Ryan are delegates to the Convention. A violent scene greeted tho resolution, which was carried by & large majority.

The police were unable to maintain order in the crowded galleries.

The Convention adopted a platform lowering the tariff in favour of Canadian products, and offering encouragement to United States farmers with the view of preventing their emigrating to Canada.

The Convention adjourned late vt night, postponing tho vote for the nomination of the Presidential candidate.
