Parliament was opened to-day. The Governor's speech foreshadowed liberal assistance in mining development, the purchase of steamers for the northern cattle trade, and tho erection of State abattoirs, extensive railway construction, extonsion, of the Fremantle, Albany, Bunbiwy and Geraldton harbours, and amendment of the liquor law providing for complete local option.
The Minister of Public Works, in a statement, said the official report on the Fremantle graving dock showed that the position was so serious that tho Government had decided to abandon the present site, and submit a neAv scheme providing for ample dock accommodation.
