LEADER'S OPENING ADDRESS

NEW MEMBERS SWORN IN

Tho Legislative Council then met for business.

Meanwhile hb could do no less than tho late Mr McGowan had done in acceding to the request of the Government, and would with confidence, ask the indulgence of the Council. A message from the Governor was read announcing the appointment to the Council of Sir William Steward, i the Hon. T. Y. Duncan, and the Hon. T. Farata. The two former were swoin m, and took their seats. i Tho Hon. O. Samuel moved similar motions of appreciation of thq .services, and condolence with the families, of the late- Hon James" McGowan, Sir7John Logan Campbell, and other recently deceased ex-membors of Parliament, to those moved in the House.
