THE HON. R. McKENZIE.

APPRECIATION OF SERVICES

At yesterday's meeting of the Waimca County Council the Chairman (Cr. P. Best) moved that a hearty vote of thanks bo accorded the Hon. R. McKenzie, M.P. for Motueka, for the great assistance he had rendered the Council during the term he held office as Minister for Public, "Works, and that, the Council place on record its high appreciation of\ the services rendered by him to tho district. Cr. Best said that while Mr McKenzie had been Minister he had rendered the Council great assistance in every way.

Or. Macmahon seconded the-motion. Not only as member: for Motueka, but as Minister for Public' Works Mr McKenzie had assisted tho Council very materially. Through hi 3 efforts many improvements had boon effected through out tho country.

Cr. Drummond, in .supporting; the motion, said Mr. McKonaie had done more for tho district than any other member, and the Bettlevs were indebted to him for the good state of tho roads in the back blocks.

Ci\ Hbult endorsed tho remarks of tho provious speaker, and expressed regret that Mr. McKonzio was no longer in ..tho Ministry. .

The motion was put and carried imßniinously.
