(From "ITio Colonist,'' April 12.)

The tenth annual meeting of the Nelson Hockey Association was held at Mercer's room last evening. The piesident (Mr. S. Kirkpatrick) presided, and the following clubs were represented: Motueka (men's and ladies') .Nelson Federal, Wai Mai, Stoke, Richmond, Wakatu, College, Takaka, Kia Ora. Messrs. W. Dee (vice-president), T. L. Floyd (secretary), and H. J. Savage (treasurer) were also present. • The annual report was read as Tuilowa by the lion, secretary, Mr. T. L. Floyd : There were twenty-ono. teams competing in the championship contests, divided up as follows : Men's division, six senior, three junior, and three teams in the schoolboys' competition; ladies' division, five senior and four junior. In each grade the honours were closely contested.

"The senior men'is championship was won by the Wai Mai Club with an vnboaten record. The winners, who are a young caib, are to be heartily congratulated upon their success. The Nf.Json Club were runners-up. The liano^ championship was won by tho jNVisonOlub, and tho schoolboys' championship was won by the Central A team with an unbeaten record. St. Mary's were ivn-ners-up. The senior ladies' championship, was won by tile Wakatu Chxh, ?nd the junior ladies' by the Hope \ team. Both these clubs are fto be congratulated upon tlieir success

Iho two men's senior six-a-side tmirnaments were both won by tli c Wai Mai A team. Tho junior men's was won by the combined schools' team. The senior .adies' was won by Wakatu A t-am and the Wakatu B team won the junior. It is hoped that some enthusiast of the game or the incoming committee •vil] see that a cup or shield is given for the junior men' 3 tennis to play for. Tho .schoolboys' competition was started last •season and proved a great success. The thanlcs of tho Association are extended to Mr. Hedley S;ivage for donating a silver cup for this competition. Again it is to be regretted that during "the season; no representative teams paid a visit to Nelson. Wellington offered to send a representative team last Easter but owing to the earliness of the sea«m, and the difficulty to get out a strong team, their offer was not acceoted. A club team from Sydenham, and one from Marlborough paid Nelson a visit during the latter part of tho season and played matches against several of the local clubs. Li August the senior men s representatives wont, on "tour to Marlborough and Wellington, playin-r three matches. The first was against Marlborough for the Norden Cup, which was won by Marlborough, the second against Picton, which was won easily h^ INelson, and the third against Wellington for the New Zealand Association^ challenge shield which was won by Wellington by 6 goals to 4. The result of th o game however, shows that the standard of hockey in Nelson is decidedly good. More successful were the NelST if s r °Pre»entatives, who journeyed to Wellington to compote in the New Zealand ladies' hockey tournament for th.c lzard cup, and the champion-ship of New Zealand. The Nelson ladies' representatives have always shown a bod lront at these tournaments. Tho fist year they were runners up with Wairarapa tho second and third years they came third, and at the last tournament alter playing a series o f brilliant panics; they finally defeated the great Hawke's liay team, who had an unbeaten record lor the cup, and championship- of New Zealand for three years. This year the tournament is to be held in Auckhud and it is hoped that a strong team nil] be sent up to defend tho title. Your committee is pleasod to report that the work of laying drains in tho two northern circles of the playing fields has been completed. Ihe thanks of the committee- are due to all those members from ! the various clubs, who put in a lot of their spare time in helping to carry out the work.
