THE MOUTERE HILLS.

With tho idea of showing the necessity for the proposed road to connect this portion of tho district with the Moutero mudflat extension road, the* Minister was taken part of the way tip the Moutere hills, having previously been shown the direct routo that would bo obtained if the proposed road was constructed.

During tho trip the Minister stated that tho requests made by the people of Nelson and district had boon eminently" reasonable, and so far as he was con- • corned he was prepared to give them every satisfaction.

The lion Mr Luurcnson was very ploased with tho hospitality shown him, and although he had visited Nelson-on two previous occasions, he had seen very little of the place. While on the present occasion he had seen sufficient to begin to understand the possibilities of Nelson and tho immediate district.

Tho party returned to town at 6.15, and the Minister left for Wellington by the Nikait shortly after seven o'clock.
