DEPUTATION AT RICHMOND.

While proceeding to the Moutere tho Minister for Public Works, who was accompanied by Mr Atmore, M.P., was waited upon at Richmond by the Mayor and Councillors and leading citizens. Having been cordially welcomed, by the Mayor several matters affecting tho township were b'rougnt under his notice, including tho purchase of a strip of land alongside the Post Office, and the drainago of tho land owned by the Railway Department. A request was also made for a stationmastcr, Mr May stating that goods were constantly disappearing through there being no ono in charge there. Ho paid'in steamer and railway freights about £700 a year, and others were contributing in tho same proportion, he thought thoy were justified in asking for a stationmaster. The Minister undertook to bring these matters beforo tho responsible Ministers.
